ADPTC Web Site in "The Works"
The Executive Committee has voted to develop a web site for our organization. This page will be designed under Lee Cooper's direction at Virginia Tech. Our plan is to have a general, open-to-the-public portion of the site and a members-only area with information about training clinics, sample clinic manuals, archives of valuable threads from the list serve discussions, and other relevant information.  We will keep you posted on this as it develops.

August Events in Washington, DC
I am pleased to announce the annual
Pre-APA Convention ADPTC Workshop to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Wilson Room, Thursday August 3rd, 10:00 AM - 3:50 PM, the day before the official opening of the APA Convention. A lunch will be available at the meeting; we may need to charge a nominal fee for the lunch. There will be NO fee for the Workshop. A Continuing Education certificate will be available following the Workshop. These Workshops have been very useful to directors who have attended them in the past, and we have worked this year to again cover current important issues facing clinic directors.
Our plan is to have a series of fairly brief presentations (20-30 minutes) in the morning and afternoon, with the last hour of the Workshop devoted to separate discussion groups, each focusing on one of the topics from the day.  The topics and the presenters are provided below.  Please note that we do not have a presenter yet for "Teaching about Managed Care in Clinics," which is an important topic. I hope that we can find a volunteer to present on this topic.  Please e-mail me if you are interested.

  • Teaching about Managed Care in Clinics--Volunteer to present
  • Evaluating Outcome in Clinics/Research in the Clinic-Terry Pace & Bob Hatcher
  • Teaching EST's in the Clinic-Lee Cooper
  • Management & Administrative Skills for Mental Health Professionals-John Flora-Tostado
  • Managing Liability in the Clinic-Jean Spruill
  • External Funding Sources for Clinics--Sheila Ribordy
  • Teaching about Supervision in the Clinic-Jill Waterman
  • Incorporating Ethics Training into Your Clinic & Training Program -Rob Heffer
ADPTC also will conduct its Annual Business Meeting on Saturday August 5th 12:00 - 1:50 PM in Meeting Room 3 at the Convention Center. We will hear reports from our officers and committee chairs and will have a chance to talk further about issues of interest and concern to clinic directors.   I look forward to seeing many of you at our Workshop and Annual Business Meeting in Washington, DC!
