INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF PSYCHOLOGY TRAINING CLINICS!

Maui, Hawaii – March 22 to March 25, 2018

(Main programming is 3/22- 3/24; Executive Committee meets 3/25)

 

Dear APTC Directors!!

 We are excited about our next APTC Conference (Thursday March 22nd through Saturday March 25th, 2018) at The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, 2605 Kaanapali Parkway, Lahaina, Maui, HI, 96761  (http://www.sheraton-maui.com). 

 This year’s conference is an international collaboration between APTC and The Australasian Directors of Psychology Training Clinics is entitled, “Global Issues and Trends in Psychology Training.” Proposals for presentations/posters are due November 15, 2017.

 Our keynote speaker this year will be Brin Grenyer, PhD, Professor of Psychology at University of Wollongong Australia. His presentation is titled “Training the psychologist of the future: International core competencies and the promise of international agreements to facilitate global practice.”  The full program can be found under Meeting Materials at http://aptc.org/?module=Resources&categoryID=90.  Please remember to register for the meeting as soon as possible so that we can plan accordingly. Also, we have a limited block of rooms at the conference rate, so if you would like to stay at the conference hotel be sure to book right away!

 We have decided not to offer APA Site Visitor training this year, and will likely include it in next year’s program.

Thursday, 3/22:  Afternoon New Directors programming and Welcome Reception

Friday, 3/23 and Saturday 3/24:  General Sessions

 Registration:

Register online at www.aptc.org (log in to your account and click the meeting link on the right side of the webpage)

APTC FULL Members: $300 now through 3/1/18 ($400 after 3/1/18)

Associate members, liaisons, and other affiliates:  $350 now through 3/1/18 ($450 after 3/1/18)

Non-APTC Members (BY INVITATION ONLY): $500 now through 3/1/18 ($600 after 3/1/18)

The meeting will be held at The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, 2605 Kaanapali Parkway, Lahaina, Maui, HI, 96761  (http://www.sheraton-maui.com). 

Reservations: 

Rates for single/double occupancy are $280/night for run-of-house, non-ocean view rooms for the dates of March 21-24, subject to availability.  The resort fee of $25/night includes guestroom internet and will be discounted to $15/night upon payment at checkout.  Rates for additional dates start at $320/night with $25 resort fee.  Ocean view rooms may be available at an additional fee.

Check In/Check Out:  Check-in time is 3:00 P.M.  Check-out time is prior to 11:00 A.M.

Cancellation Policy:  The 2-night deposit is refundable for reservations canceled up to 30 days prior to arrival.  Deposits for reservations canceled less than 30 days prior to arrival, as well as no shows, will not be refunded. 

A group rate of $320/night may apply 3 days before and after event, based on availability at the time of booking. Should group rates not display for your selected dates, please call the reservations office at 808-921-4645 for assistance.

If guests try to confirm a reservation and the dates they requested are not available, they will automatically receive a message with the reservations number and office hours.  

Parking: 

Complimentary valet parking or self-parking on the day of arrival.  Valet parking is $30 +tax or self-parking is $22 +tax per day thereafter.

 Transportation: 

The closest airport to the Sheraton Maui is the Kahului Airport (OGG) http://airports.hawaii.gov/ogg/, approximately 30 miles away.  Transportation can be booked through the Sheraton Maui site http://www.sheraton-maui.com/transportation or direct from SpeediShuttle https://www.speedishuttle.com/group-reservations?id=APTC80600.  Shared shuttle service from Kahului Airport (OGG) to the Sheraton Maui costs $33.43 one way / $66.86 roundtrip per person.  Booking through SpeediShuttle saves $25 each way on single person transfers.

 Sheraton Maui Free Area Shuttle:  Show your room key to board the complimentary resort shuttle between Ka'anapali and three Lahaina locations, the Lahaina Cannery Mall, Outlets of Maui and the Wharf.  A complimentary inter-resort shuttle between Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Westin Maui Resort and Spa, Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, and Westin Nanea Ocean Villas is also available.  See http://www.sheraton-maui.com/transportation for schedules.  

 Call for Proposals:

Presentations and/or posters may be directly related to the theme or be relevant to other aspects of clinical training/directing a training clinic.  As always, presentations or posters emphasizing technological challenges and innovative solutions are welcome. Creative and novel presentation styles are encouraged!

Please complete the attached form with an abstract/proposal regarding your presentation or poster in no more than 250 words by November 15, 2017. Include your name, title, institution, e-mail address and telephone number, and send your proposal to mjtaylor@ucsd.edu.
