New Director:  Meet Kimberly Nylen
Idaho State University Psychology Clinic

This has been a year of transition, as my husband and I moved across the country from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Pocatello, Idaho after I accepted the position as Clinic Director of the Idaho State University (ISU) Psychology Clinic. Pocatello is a picturesque little community nestled in the western foothills of the Rockies. Known as the “Gateway to the Northwest” and the “U.S. Smile Capital,” Pocatello is conveniently located, being only a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, Sun Valley, and Salt Lake City.
As I have settled into my new role, I have been impressed by both the department staff and the people of the community. I felt a sense of comfort and welcome almost immediately in every aspect, not the least of which is the eagerness of anyone to recommend a great place to grab dinner!
The role of Director has been exhilarating. The position is, in many ways, ideal for me. It is tenure-track and thus provides an excellent balance of administrative, teaching, and research duties.
In addition to the Clinic Director, the ISU Psychology Clinic is staffed by one full-time staff member and two graduate teaching assistants. Six full-time faculty members supervise approximately 20 graduate students in Clinical Psychology. The Clinic offers a variety of services that reflect the expertise and interests of the faculty, including child behavior therapy, cognitive behavior and interpersonal therapy for anxiety, trauma and depression, couple and family treatment, and neurocognitive testing. I am excited about many anticipated changes over the next few years as we plan continued improvements in our technology and clinic systems to aid student training.
