HOW WE FARED WITH SANDY

Colleen Byrne, The University of Maryland:  The Clinic was closed Monday and Tuesday because the University closed for those two days. No damage or power loss.

Leticia Flores, Virginia Commonwealth University:  The University was closed the Monday after Sandy.  Thanks to having Ti remotely on my laptop, I was able to get client phone numbers to all therapists, who called to cancel/reschedule sessions with their clients.

Richard Morrissey, St. John’s University in Queens, New York:  We were closed all last week.  There was no power in the building from Monday, October 29, when Sandy hit, through Saturday evening, November 3rd.  We are just getting back to normal functioning.  Several of our graduate therapists had their homes totally destroyed by flood and the Department is organizing for ways to help them.  In addition, we are trying to organize some response for the community for both emergency aid and also mental health response.  But all in all we are OK.

William Salton, The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York City:  The Bronx is resilient.  We are located on a hill and our clinic is in a basement, so nothing much happened from wind or water. We were off for a week and now business is as usual. (I had no heat or power in my house in Westchester though.)

LaTrelle Jackson, Regent University:  We were okay in the Virginia Beach area.

Joe Scardapane, Hofstra University, Long Island:  We were closed for a week.  I personally had no power for 2 weeks
