President’s Column
Colleen Byrne, Ph.D.

For the past year, I have served on the Ethics Committee for the Maryland Psychological Association. We take calls from members and even consumers who have questions or concerns. At first, I was surprised by how many of the issues stumping the callers were those regularly encountered by Clinic Directors and addressed by us at APTC meetings or on the listserv. It’s gratifying to be able to provide guidance to other psychologists. Further, it makes me proud to be associated with ethics-savvy colleagues such as yourselves.
So many of the issues faced by Clinic Directors cut across multiple areas such as procedural, ethical, legal, and technical. It’ been great to see APTC members supporting each other on the listserv.  I’m constantly inspired by the wealth of knowledge from our membership. I’ve been especially pleased to note how many of us are willing to summarize the data we collect from listserv inquiries and share the results. What a great way to give back to your colleagues!
Like most other psychologists, I attend my fair share of conferences for continuing education, but rarely do I retain and use the information from those other workshops as often as I do from our APTC meetings. The quality of presentations the past few years has been impressive and the content substantial. You can expect another great meeting this year. The theme, "Evidence-Based Practice and Technology: Innovations in Implementation” has wide appeal. Whether you are interested in supervision innovations or Twitter feeds for your website, there will be something for everyone.
Please plan to join us for an exceptional learning opportunity and some good fun. I look forward to seeing everyone in Miami!
Colleen Byrne
