We are excited about our next APTC Conference (Thursday March 21st through Saturday March 23rd, 2019) at The Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, 387 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403, (http://francismarionhotel.com).

 

 

Hotel Reservations:

 

Rates for single/double occupancy are $269/night for run-of-house rooms and includes guestroom internet.  Rates available March 19-26, subject to availability (call for other dates).  Reservations require a credit card guarantee.

Check In/Check Out:  Check-in time is 4:00 P.M.  Check-out time is prior to 12:00 noon.

Cancellation Policy:  Cancellations within 1 week of arrival date will be charged first night's room and tax.

Parking:  Guests may pull up to the front door on King Street for unloading and check-in.  Bell staff will be happy to assist you.  Self-parking is available in the City Garage next door to the Hotel.  The charge is $20 per 24-hour period and is payable to the garage attendant by MasterCard, Visa, or cash.

APTC FULL Members: $300 now through 3/1/19 ($400 after 3/1/19)

Associate members, liaisons, and other affiliates:  $350 now through 3/1/19 ($450 after 3/1/19)

Non-APTC Members: $500 now through 3/1/19 ($600 after 3/1/19)

The theme for this year’s conference is Integrating Research and Practice in Psychology Training Clinics.” Proposals for presentations/posters are due October 15, 2018.

 

We will be offering APA Site Visitor training this year, on Thursday, March 21st.

Call for Proposals:

Suggested theme-related proposals may include:

·  Research conducted in or among psychology training clinics

·  Research-informed training and supervision in psychology training clinics

·  Evidence-based practice in psychology training clinics

·  Training and supervision in empirically-supported treatments (ESTs) in psychology training clinics

·  Training including deliberate practice. Tony Rousmaniere, a previous APTC keynote speaker describes deliberate practice on the Division 29 website in the following way, “Of particular importance for psychotherapists, deliberate practice requires five processes that are not present in traditional CEU formats: observing your own work, getting expert feedback, setting incremental learning goals just beyond your ability, repetitive behavioral rehearsal of specific skills, and continuously assessing performance (Ericsson, 2006).”

Presentations and/or posters may be directly related to the theme or be relevant to other aspects of clinical training/directing a training clinic.  As always, presentations or posters emphasizing technological challenges and innovative solutions are welcome. Creative and novel presentation styles are encouraged!

Please complete the attached form with an abstract/proposal regarding your presentation or poster in no more than 250 words by October 15, 2018. Include your name, title, institution, e-mail address and telephone number, and send your proposal to mjtaylor@ucsd.edu.

Also, please make sure to provide 3 learning objectives.

 

Transportation

The Charleston International Airport (CHS) http://www.iflychs.com/ is 12 miles from the Francis Marion Hotel.  The Charleston Downtown Shuttle is $15 per person and departs within 15 minutes of request on site.  The shuttle is a shared ride and may make other stops downtown.

Taxi fare for up to 2 people is about $30 to the Francis Marion.  Both Lyft and Uber service the airport; fees vary. 

 CARTA, the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority, offers nonstop and express bus service to and from downtown Charleston and the airport via the Airport Express for $3.50 per person per trip.  Upon arrival downtown, CARTA offers the free Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) to numerous destinations, including the Francis Marion Hotel.  For details, see
