ADPTC Member Survey


Thanks to Rob Heffer and his committee's efforts, the ADPTC survey data is now available on the web site. It is user friendly and here is a sample of a couple of items from the fourth category on Director compensation, satisfaction, and responsibilities. Respondents (N of 14) were evenly divided female and male.

  • 92.9% of Chairs or Department Heads support and understand the Director's role.
  • 35.7% were directors three years or less, and 35.7% were more than 10 years. We are bimodal!
  • 78.6% of us are expected to teach as well.
  • 100% are expected to provide clinical supervision.

What directors like most about their jobs:

  • Variety of responsibilities 100%
  • Focus on training students in skills 92.9%
  • Bright, energized colleagues 85.7%
  • Working with students and clients 85.7%
  • Intellectual freedom 78.6%

What directors like least about their jobs:

  • Lack of parity with other professionals in department 50%
  • Dealing with "problem" faculty members 28.6%
  • Juggling various responsibilities 28.6%

Salary

The mean: $65,376.
